Versatile Power’s team of engineers and manufacturing
personnel is headed by President David Hoffman (center in
photo at right) and CEO Jerry Price (far right) who have worked
together in the past as a remarkably successful Silicon Valley
entrepreneurial team.
David has spent the past 30 years directing teams of
consummate multidisciplinary technologists to solve complex
electronic subsystem problems, while he invents industry-shifting
paradigms at the same time. His six patents, including a rare
Japanese patent, have produced breakthrough improvements in
performance and market share for past employers and for
Versatile Power customers. |

Twenty-five years in the fast-changing high technology environment have taught Jerry that
customers demand reduced product complexity (and cost), greater reliability, better control
(with added intelligence), and increased flexibility (with modular design and by using the added
intelligence.) He has become expert at facilitating dialog with customers during development
and closely monitoring all aspects of manufacturing and quality control with subcontractors.
Some of the successes in the team’s past include vital contributions to an artificial heart, the
first microprocessor used in space, the Mars rover, satellite communications, the first MOSFETs,
more efficient main frame and super computers, control of the binding ratio of enzymes at the
single DNA molecular level, and high transient performance power supplies for semiconductor
manufacturing equipment. Click here for examples of successful customer projects.
Key team members have advanced degrees in electrical, mechanical, and computer
engineering from leading universities, including Stanford University, CalPoly, the University of
California, and Stevens Institute, where they were at the top of their class. They regularly
deliver papers at domestic and international symposia and successfully apply for patents.
